  • We’ve been coming to this restaurant for nearly 20 years, and it never disappoints. The ingredients are sourced from local farms, and everything tastes incredibly fresh. This time we ordered the pork belly, flank steak, chicken sandwich, and pork chop. Everything was excellent. What truly stands out, though, are the side dishes. We had the fried okra (hands down the best anywhere), collard greens, and mac & cheese. Who puts that much care and effort into sides? Clearly, they do. It’s obvious they take great pride in their food and they should. Don’t skip dessert. We usually order one to share, but that was a mistake. One is not enough. Our server wasn’t particularly friendly but was efficient and got the job done. Having been a regular for so many years, I know that’s not the norm and wouldn’t hold it against the restaurant at all.

  • Small place. Clean. High tables and regular tables. Staff was friendly and professional. Nice size bar. First time for us. Photos of food attached. Dishes are represented well. Deviled eggs have horseradish in them. We return and try different food items.

  • A great place for lunch in the Arboretum. Clean and spacious. Our waiter was attentive and the food was well presented. We ordered three small plates and shared between the two of us. Fried green tomatoes; deviled eggs and a mushroom flat bread. The dishes were neither badly prepared nor exceptional in any way. Nothing stood out. However, if ever the the opportunity arises, I’m willing to give it another try

  • I’m not sure why we’ve waited so long to try New South Kitchen, but I’m glad we finally dined here! Nicole was our sever and we could tell that we were getting service with a smile — even with a mask covering it. She did a great job of making recommendations when we asked about her favorite menu items. Warm biscuits and butter are served with the meal in true Southern fashion. We started with a small plate of Baked Pimiento Cheese with red pepper marmalade and wonton chips. It was gooey and delicious— with the marmalade taking the flavor to the next level. For our entree, we enjoyed the Chicken & Waffles. The waffle was Belgian style and SO LIGHT! Most chicken and waffles I’ve had in the past were served with syrup but these were served with gravy and warmed jalapeño jelly as a counterpoint. Nicole wisely suggested that we order the jelly on the side so that we could control how much jalapeño heat we wanted with each bite — and she was right. The jelly does have a bit of a kick. All in all, the meal was delicious and the service was excellent. And with many items on the menu that we’d still like to try, we look forward to returning. We used Open Table to make our reservation and were happy to see upon arrival that they were separating guests by only using every other table. We also witnessed the servers going the extra mile in cleaning each table as each party left.

  • We came to New South Kitchen & Bar for a staff meeting lunch with our newly formed team, and it was a fantastic experience from start to finish. The food was great...Southern comfort done right, and the service was top notch. You could tell the sweet tea was made with love, and the biscuits for the table were warm, buttery, and perfectly complemented by the blackberry jam our server thoughtfully brought out. That little touch made a big impression. We left full, happy, and already talking about how this spot is going into our official Wednesday post-meeting lunch rotation. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a welcoming atmosphere, great service, and food that hits the spot.

  • I recently had the pleasure of visiting this modern southern style restaurant for brunch, and I must say, the flavors and dishes transported me to the heart of the South. The restaurant had a trendy and inviting ambiance that perfectly complemented the delicious fare they had to offer. Let's start with the highlight of the meal - the chicken. It was nothing short of excellent. The succulent, perfectly cooked chicken had a crispy golden crust that sealed in the juicy goodness. Each bite was a harmonious blend of flavors, with just the right amount of seasoning. It was clear that the chefs had put great effort into ensuring that the chicken was the star of the show, and they succeeded admirably. Accompanying the chicken were the delectable potatoes. These Southern-style potatoes were wonderfully seasoned and perfectly cooked. They had a crispy exterior, giving way to a soft and tender center. Each bite was a heavenly blend of flavors, with hints of herbs and spices that enhanced the overall experience. These potatoes were truly a standout addition to the meal. The biscuits were another delightful component of the brunch. They were flaky, buttery, and had a melt-in-your-mouth texture. Freshly baked to perfection, you can enjoy these on their own or with the jams and butters available, but either way the biscuits were an absolute delight. Now, onto the only downside of the experience—the wait for the food. Unfortunately, the wait was longer than expected, which detracted from an otherwise enjoyable dining experience. While I understand that we did go on a holiday, we did make reservations, were seated on time, and still had to wait over an hour. However, it's worth noting that the quality of the dishes did make up for the delay to some extent. Despite the longer wait, I would still highly recommend New South Kitchen & Bar for their wide variety of southern offerings. The chicken, potatoes, and biscuits were simply outstanding, showcasing the rich and comforting flavors of the South. If you're looking for a taste of Southern cuisine with a modern twist, this restaurant is the place to be. Just be prepared for a potential wait, as the food is definitely worth it. The flavors, attention to detail, and ambiance combined to create a truly enjoyable brunch. I'll definitely be returning to savor more of their mouthwatering dishes.

  • Nothing to brag about, but I’ll brag. Why not! It’s actually amazing. The atmosphere is cozy and warm. Great seating and bar area. And the food is delicious! I ordered the delicious Fried Chicken Sandwich and did not disappoint.
